Potassamide, KNH2

Gaseous ammonia reacts with fused potassium to form Potassamide, KNH2, and it is also produced by the interaction of potassium hydride and liquefied ammonia. It is a white substance, melting at 338° C. At 400° to 500° C. it volatilizes in a current of hydrogen. It reacts with water to form potassium hydroxide and ammonia.
