Potassium hypoborate, KH3OB
The Potassium hypoborate, KH3OB, is a very deliquescent substance, formed by the interaction of boron hydride, B4H10, and a very concentrated solution of potassium hydroxide:
B4H10 + 4KOH = 4KH3OB + H2. The hydride of the formula B2H6 acts similarly: B2H6 + 2KOH = 2KH3OB + H2. |
